The Josephine Ball

WITH FREE TASTER DANCE CLASS

SATURDAY 31ST May
7:00pm Taster Class | 8:00pm Band
Toitū Otago Settlers Museum - Josephine Foyer

Dance away the night with ol' Josephine.

Josephine is a double Fairlie (double ended) locomotive first operated at the Dunedin-Port Chalmers Railway in 1872. The train was sent to be scrapped 45 years later after being used around the country. It was saved from the scrapyard and has been on display at the museum since the late 1920s. Josephine was restored and moved indoors in the late 1960s. It is one of only a handful of surviving double Fairlies left in the world and we love her dearly here in Ōtepoti!

Jessie Gordon is a very sun-shy Perth red-headed jazz singer who enjoys swing music, dancing in her kitchen to Otis Redding, eating cheese at any given opportunity and singing in the shower and every other (shaded) venue. Her main musical passions are jazz, blues and roots music. She started singing professionally at the age of 15 and has fronted big bands, jazz duos and every sized band in-between. She has toured Australia, America, South East Asia, Germany, France, Spain, Poland and the UK. She is also a 20 time Fringe World Music and Cabaret Award winner. We are very excited to have paired her up with our very own Rinky Tinkies to keep the dance floor pumping!
